3 of the best home security apps

security app

Home security apps are flooding the market because there seems to be a need for on the go security solutions. More and more big players are moving to the digital world and it can get extremely confusing on what app to choose. We have compiled a list of the best Android and iOS security apps; along with the pros and cons of each app. The list is based on extensive research and a tad bit of subjective opinion; so if you a find app that is better than the ones we suggested, then kindly let us know about the app in the comment section.

1. Ivideon

Ivideon is a new player in the android market and has taken the marketplace by storm. The app has some of the best security features we have seen. The best part about the app is that it can connect to a camera and relay back the audio via the internet. This may not seem like a big deal, but most security apps only relay the video and the audio feature is a personal favourite for all of us here. In addition, the app also has cloud backup and storage. The only cons about the app are that sometimes the app faces bug and shutdown issues, but we are sure that these issues will be fixed in the next update.

2. Reolink

The Reolink has around 2.5 million active users and is one of the most popular home security apps on the google play store. The best part about the app is that it is extremely slick and efficient. Most Home security apps would require a lot of configuration, but the reolink only requires you to connect with the security camera. The pros of using this app are definitely the great user interface, motion triggers and remote access. The con of using this app is that this app does not work with any other home security system, for now it is only security camera friendly. And that is said to be rectified soon. We believe that we have not seen the end of the reolink and that the security camera feature is only the tip of the iceberg.

3. Presence

How can we forget iOS users? The best part of this app is that it turns your old iPhones and iPads into home security systems. The thing with iOS users is that people keep buying the next version as soon as it gets out and these phones are forgotten in some closet. Take those old phones out and transform your house into a secure place. The app can run on almost any iOS device and can capture videos and is motion sensitive. The biggest con that we were able to uncover is that there is only about 50MB of cloud storage available.

Top 4 measures to stay safe while living alone

safety

Living alone comes with certain perks, but it can be a tormenting experience if you stay in a neighbourhood that is prone to thefts and break-ins. We have compiled a list of measures to keep you and your property safe from people who live on the dark side of the law.

1. Security Cameras

Installing a security camera is of paramount importance. Firstly, a good thief is bound to stake out your house and the presence of a security camera will surely deter a person from breaking into your place. Secondly, if a break-in does occur; you have a way of identifying the culprit and getting back your stuff. Security cameras also make it easier for the police to track down the suspect; otherwise, finding the culprit becomes equivalent to searching a needle in a haystack.

2. Motion Sensor

Motion sensors have greatly developed over the past few years and now they come with the added benefit of outdoor lights. You can turn on the motion sensors before retiring to your home and anyone who enters will be detected and a bright light will appear on the front porch. For starters, it makes it easy for you to lock all the doors and windows and secondly, no thief is going to risk trying to get in when they face such a stumbling block.

3. Neighbours

Neighbour

Be friendly to your neighbours; you may like to live alone, but that doesn’t mean you have to live lonely. Your neighbours will be the closest form of social support if something happens and if they see someone hanging around your house, they’d definitely tell you. But if you are on bad terms with your neighbours, or if you are unknown to them, they might simply stay quiet about the whole situation.

4. Barking Noises

We recommend that you get a pet, but if you are someone who doesn’t want to have a pet then make sure to get one of those alarms that make it seem like you have a pet. A recent article published in the Daily Mail stated did a study on burglars; the results indicated that burglars will stay away from houses that had dogs. For the simple reason being that things can easily get complicated when there is an animal thrown into the mix.

We suggest that you get the help of a security solution firm to take care of your home security needs.
